1. RELEASE NOTICE

   This software package is the Beta 2 release of S23 Windows 95
   drivers version 2.00. Please report the bugs found to Multimedia 
   B.D., Acer Inc., Taiwan.
   

2. INSTALLATION GUIDE

   If you have previously installed the earlier release of the S23 device
   driver, please remove them manually with the following steps:

   1)  Use the system applet to delete all Crystal folders below the 
       "Sound, video, and Game Controllers" icon on the Device Manager tab.

   2)  Delete s23.inf and any oem(x).inf's created by previous installs 
       of the Crystal driver from the \windows\inf directory.

   After that, you can proceed to install the current driver.

   If the S23 PnP card is plugged in your system, during starting
   up, Windows 95 will ask for:

   MS Windows Sound System Compatible
   * Windows default driver
   * Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer
   * Do not install a driver (....)
   * Select from a list of alternate drivers

   Select the 2nd line "Driver from disk..."  and insert the setup
   diskette in the floppy drive. Select OK to start the
   installation. Choose "Magic S23 PnP Audio Hardware" when Windows
   prompt you this driver. After the driver files are copied, Windows
   will ask for restarting, just answer Yes for this question.
   
   For the devices Gameport Joystick and MPU-401 Compatible, select
   Windows default driver. You will be prompt to insert your Windows
   95 setup diskettes or CD-ROM for those drivers if you have not
   installed them before.
   
   After all the drivers are installed, Win95 will not restart again.
   If the volume control icon does not appear on the taskbar. Just
   open [Control Panel-Multimedia-Audio] and enable the option
   "Show volume control on the taskbar".


3. IF YOU GET PROBLEMS

   If you get problems when installing or using the Magic S23 card,
   please refer to the "Trouble Shooting" section on the user's
   manual.
