ABOUT DGPADI.EXP ================== The file DGPADI.EXP is a protected mode ADI digitizer driver for KYE Genius HiSketch digitizing tablets. It provides an interface that allows the tablets to be used as input devices for many of the 80386-based software products of AutoDesk, Inc. The most well- known of these is AutoCAD. This driver only works with AutoDesk products, and requires that the host computer have an 80386 or compatible CPU. The following assumes that you are installing the driver for AutoCAD. If you are using a different AutoDesk product, consult the documentation for that product for details. INSTALLING DGPADI.EXP ======================= Unlike some non-protected mode ADI drivers, DGPADI.EXP does not install itself into the computers memory by itself. It needs to be loaded by AutoCAD during a process called "configuration." But before this can happen, AutoCAD needs to know that your driver exists. So first you need to copy DGPADI.EXP to the \ACAD\DRV directory on your hard disk COPY A:DGPADI.EXP C:\ACAD\DRV /V When you get into AutoCAD, you will need configure your tablet for it. Type "config" at the command prompt. The configuration menu lets you change many facets of AutoCAD. The "Configure digitizer" option (currently 4) lets you select the digitizer. Choose 5 for Genius ADI driver. You will now be asked for some details of your tablet. You have to choose the tablet size: 1. HiSketch 505 TABLET 2. HiSketch 906 TABLET 3. HiSketch 1212 TABLET 4. HiSketch 1812/D TABLET If you choose 2 for HiSketch 906 tablet, it will let you choose what orientation you would like for your digitizer. Choose 1 for land- scape mode and 2 for portrait mode. Then you will be asked about your transducer, and this is done by asking for the number of buttons. DGPADI.EXP supports the 2- and 3-button stylii and the 4-button cursor. Enter 2, 3, or 4. Now you will be asked to name the serial port. Do NOT enter "1" or "2" ! Use "COM1" or "COM2". That ends the configuration. Press 0 to return to the Main Menu, and answer Y to the "keep changes" question. You are now ready to use your Genius tablet in AutoCAD. You can change your port, tablet, and cursor at any time by going back through the "Configure digitizer" section and answering No when AutoCAD asks if you want a new driver.
