Als weiterfuehrende Information zur AGTK 97070 habe ich Information von 
den niederlaendischen Betreibern eingeholt und folgende MAIL bekommen 
 
You heared about our project "The Digital School".  

In short: 
I am a secundary school teacher of Social Sciences in The  
Netherlands. Together with a friend of mine, we started this project,  
a national virtual school on the Internet which offers materials and  
support to all students and teachers in The Netherlands. 

We co-opperate with 20 teachers who teach in schools all over the  
country and manage a virtual classroom in The Digital School on a  
voluntary basis. At the moment The Digital School has about 11.000  
hits a day. 

A couple of months ago we started an international network. The plans  
are to build a virtual school network in Europe. We are trying to  
find partners in different countries who are willing to co-operate.  
This means that they should build a Digital School in their own  
country. 

These virtual schools should offer their information both in English  
as well as in the national language. The structure of the site will  
be the same as the Dutch Digital School which is a schoolbuilding with all the  
rooms and places a real school contains. The name of the school  
should be "The Digital School" in English and the equivalent in the  
national language. The Digital School in The Netherland  
will support this project by offering a basic structure in English,  
which can be uploaded on the Internet in 5 minutes. Later on this  
structure can be used to expand the virtual school together with  
teachers in the country.  

At the moment we have partners in 5 countries and we are looking for  
partners in other countries. To start a partner only needs two things: 
access to a Internet server and two or three teachers who are willing  
and able to start this project. When the virtual school pages are on  
the net volunteers will offer themselves to help and manage a  
classroom (the same happened in Holland).

Ich finde das Projekt aeusserst interessant. Erstmals (?) wird versucht 
nicht nur das INTERNET nach Materialien abzusuchen, die vielleicht fuer 
die Schule von Interesse sind, sondern in einer europaeischen 
konzentrierten Aktion durch Lehrer und Schueler gezielt Materialien 
fuer den Unterricht im WEB zu publizieren. Die Vision, dass man fuer 
einen gemeinsamen oesterreichischen Server (der laesst sich sicher 
leicht finden) originaeres Material anderer Lehrer und Schueler aus dem 
Web holt (naemlich auf Englisch) und dann uebersetzt und den nationalen 
Gegebenheiten anpasst, ist schon faszinierend. Wenn es Bestandteil fast 
jedes Schulprojektes waere die Ergebnisse auch im Internet zu 
publizieren, koennten dann bald Schulbuecher ueberfluessig werden ? 
 
Ich alleine werde dieses Projekt fuer Oesterreich nicht aus der Taufe 
heben, bin aber gerne bereit mit meiner Schule dabei mitzumachen. Als 
auf ! Wo sind die vier fuenf Pioniere, die einmal mit einer 
Grundstruktur beginnen (wo auch immer) und dann andere Schulen und 
Institutionen usw. zur Mitarbeit einladen ? 
 
Nicht wir schuetzen unsere Schulen vor dem Mist des INTERNETS, sondern 
WIR MACHEN UNS UNSER INTERNET selbst ! Ist das zu euphorisch ?
